A retired Port Charlotte resident, Lieutenant Colonel Grace Chicken served as an Air- Evac nurse in the US Army Air Force during WWII and the Korean War. After the Korean War ended, Chicken continued her service in the US Army Air Force for a total of 26 years before retiring to Florida. At age 102, she shared fond memories of her experiences in the service, which allowed her to travel the world.
